From the Provost's Desk

The past two weeks have been very busy at the office and I had to travel between Accra and Kumasi to engage key development partners in the College. I had a delegation from the University of Western Ontario visit me on the 18th of November  and also had representatives from the Ghana Institution of Surveyors pass by my office for very fruitful discussions.

During the visit of the Canadian delegation we paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor and had fruitful discussions on how the two institutions could collaborate to improve the quality of our products. I also took them round the Petroleum Engineering Laboratory to get them acquainted with some of our laboratory facilities.

Earlier on I was in Accra with the Vice Chancellor to hold meetings with representatives of the Jospong group of companies who are our key development partners in the area of sanitation.

On the 19th of November I was in Accra with the Pro Vice Chancellor to attend the matriculation and graduation ceremony of students of the KNUST Institute of Sanitation and Waste Management (K-AISWAM).

In all 14 students graduated with certificate in Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management. Also 260 students were matriculated into various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Provost in his address indicated that a MoU signed between the two institutions has been in place since November 2013. The two institutions are looking forward to strengthening the cooperation. He encouraged the fresh students to work hard in order to achieve their goals.

Last week I also had the pleasure of meeting the Laboratory Committee to deliberate on their progress so far.

Below I present a photo report on how the past two weeks have been in my office:
