He was a Research Scientist from 1996-2006 and Senior Research Scientist (2006-2008) at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI), Tamale, Ghana. His expertise and skills include: Soil and Water Engineering and Conservation, Decision Support Systems, Pump Irrigation, Soil Suitability Assessment, Soil and Crop Modeling, Catchment Erosion and Sedimentation/Nutrient Export into Small Reservoirs, Climate Change, Inland Valley Management and Extension of Sustainable Agricultural Intensification Technologies.
