The College of Engineering of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has organised a day’s orientation programme for its newly recruited Lecturers and Research Fellows on Thursday, 3rd February 2022. The orientation was to integrate the newly recruited employees into their new work environment.

Participants were educated on the University Structure and Collegiate System, the University as an Administrative System, Expectations, and Responsibilities of a Lecturer/Researcher and Preparing for Lectures and Examinations.

The Facilitators also enlightened participants on Human Resource issues, University Promotion System (Publications, Grantsmanship, Impact and Promotion), Services and Social Issues.

Welcoming the academic staff on behalf of the Provost, Professor George Yaw Obeng, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, congratulated them on their new appointment and asked them to regard themselves as ‘blessed’ to be selected among so many applicants. He urged them to utilise the opportunity to train themselves for their professional growth and for the University.

Professor George Yaw Obeng outlined the mission, vision, core values and strategic mandate of the University and encouraged the new staff to bear these values in mind in all their dealings.

According to the Deputy Registrar of Human Resource Development Division, Mr. Yaw Owusu Asamoah, hiring a new employee starts a new relationship and the nature of this relationship must be regulated in the form of rules ‘Conditions of Service.’ He, therefore, walked them through their appointment package, job schedule, various allowances entitled to them and criteria for promotion.

Other Facilitators included the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor Abdul Rahman; the Dean of Students, Professor Wilson Agyei Agyare; Professor S. I. K. Ampadu, Professor Yaw A. Tuffour, and Professor S. K. Forson.
