Prof. Francis Kemausuor, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering (FMCE) at the KNUST College of Engineering, participated in the International Conference on the Political Economy of Just Energy Transitions and Inequality in Africa at the Institute for Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, Legon.
The conference convened a diverse assembly of leading scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from across Africa and the globe to critically assess the governance, equity, and developmental implications of energy transitions on the continent.

Prof. Kemausuor presented a research paper titled, “Collaborative governance and planning of local energy systems in Ghana: the case of island communities.” His presentation highlighted innovative approaches to energy planning in geographically challenged settings.
In addition to his paper presentation, Prof. Kemausuor chaired a key technical session on Local Knowledge, Power Asymmetries, and Justice in Africa’s Energy Transitions. In this role, he facilitated rigorous scholarly dialogue on the importance of indigenous knowledge, community agency, and inclusive governance in shaping equitable and sustainable energy futures for Africa.
