From the outset, Stephen found himself immersed in the day-to-day intricacies of ore processing. The rhythmic hum of machinery and the symphony of professionals meticulously working on the extraction of gold became his daily backdrop. In this dynamic environment, Stephen confronted the challenges that defined the mining industry. One of the primary challenges that captivated Stephen's attention was the conventional approach to Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF). Armed with a blend of academic rigor and innovative fervor, he proposed a series of groundbreaking ideas to revolutionise TSF management. Corrosion emerged as another formidable adversary in the metallurgical landscape.

Stephen actively participated in various projects, including assessing SAG ball charge Measurement, Tank dip calculation, cyclone overflow sampling, conducting random sampling at the ROM pad and more.

In the chapters of his internship, Stephen faced moments that tested his resilience. The challenges inherent in the industry—whether in grappling with complex metallurgical audits, fine-tuning process optimisation strategies, or addressing unforeseen obstacles—underscored the importance of adaptability.

Amidst all the lessons learned, one constant underscored every endeavour—safety is a priority in the mines. The mining industry demands meticulous adherence to safety protocols, a lesson imprinted on Stephen's journey. The emphasis on safety became a guiding principle, influencing every innovative proposal and resilient response to challenges. It reinforced the understanding that a safe working environment is the cornerstone of sustainable and successful mining operations.
