STUDENT IN FOCUS, STEPHEN OWUSU (GESA PRESIDENT ELECT)

Stephen Owusu is a driven third-year Electrical Engineering student who combines technical expertise with a passion for leadership and intellectual discourse. His journey in student leadership began as a dedicated member of TRATECH for ELEESA, where he honed his skills in teamwork and advocacy. Recognising his potential, he rose to become the Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana Engineering Students’ Association (GESA), earning a reputation for effective communication and strategic engagement.

Currently, as the President-Elect of GESA, Stephen is poised to lead with vision and accountability. Guided by his favourite quote from a former U.S. President, “The buck stops here”, he embodies the principle that leadership requires decisive action, especially in the face of tough choices. His agenda focuses on enhancing student welfare, fostering academic collaboration, and bridging the gap between students and faculty.

Beyond leadership, Stephen thrives in intellectual arenas, particularly public speaking and debate. His ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity has made him a standout voice in academic and student forums. Whether discussing engineering innovations or societal challenges, he brings a thoughtful and solutions-oriented perspective.

Stephen’s journey is a testament to his belief that leadership is not just about position, but about responsibility and impact. As he prepares to steer GESA, he remains committed to empowering peers, driving meaningful change, and ensuring that “the buck stops” with actions that uplift the engineering community at KNUST.
