The 2024 Engineering, Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship (ESTE) International Research Symposium organised by the College of Engineering in collaboration with the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), USA, the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, and the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani was successfully completed on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The event, held over two days, commenced on Monday, July 22, 2024, with a welcome address delivered by the Provost of the College of Engineering, Prof. Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko. The symposium aimed to advance knowledge and foster collaboration in engineering, science, technology, and entrepreneurship. Keynote speakers, including Prof. Corey Leclerc from New Mexico Tech and Prof. Samuel I.K. Ampadu from the CoE KNUST, set the stage for thought-provoking sessions that covered various research themes.

The symposium featured a diverse range of presentations and discussions organised into focused tracks. Research themes included sustainable energy, materials design, digitalisation, and environmental management. Specific topics covered in the presentations included hydrogen production, the role of oil/brine/rock interactions on wettability estimation, and the potential of using borehole water for space cooling in Ghana. Notably, discussions on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) highlighted Ghana's potential and ambitions in this field. The event also featured panel discussions on the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and the future of energy and climate change. Overall, the ESTE 2024 Symposium exemplified the spirit of international collaboration and innovation, paving the way for future research and development initiatives.
