KNUST Brew-Hammond Energy Centre (TBHEC) Participates in the Commissioning of Ghana’s First Green Hydrogen Plant

The Brew-Hammond Energy Centre (TBHEC) of KNUST participated in the commissioning of Ghana’s first green hydrogen (GH2) plant on February 20, 2025, at the Don Bosco Solar Training Center in Tema, alongside a German delegation. The event highlighted the importance of green hydrogen in Ghana’s renewable energy transition.

KNUST Energy Consultant Dr. Richard Opoku emphasised the project's role in future initiatives, including the KNUST SIFA Project, which integrates a 200 kWp solar PV mini-grid with green hydrogen production and fuel cell technology for hands-on student training. The plant’s hydrogen can power fuel cells and vehicles, and KNUST plans to train 300 participants in solar PV mini-grid and GH2 technologies between 2025 and 2026.
