The College of Engineering at KNUST hosted the maiden academic exchange programme in the month of October and November 2021. Participants included Miss Karoll Ouindkouni Sig-Naame Nabaloum from the International Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE), Burkina Faso and Mr. Amadou Baldeh from the University of Science Engineering, and Technology (USET), Gambia.
Miss Nabaloum who is an administrative assistant at 2iE took the opportunity of her mobility programme to improve upon her proficiency in the English language. She therefore enrolled in an English for Administrators class where she learnt the basics of the language and common mistakes that are made in both writing and speaking. She was given a certificate signed by the Vice-Chancellor after the 5-day intensive course, she expressed a lot of satisfaction with the course and alluded that her writing skills has improved considerably.
Mr. Amadou Baldeh who is the Academic Coordinator of the University of Science Engineering and Technology (USET), Gambia with expertise in Electrical Engineering was also at KNUST. He held discussions with Prof. Emmanuel Frimpong (Head, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) on relevant research areas and on the genesis of the Brew Hammond Energy Center. Talks were also held on the progress of the undergraduate engineering programmes in the Gambia where KNUST serves as the mentor institution. Mr. Baldeh toured the laboratories under the departments of Mechanical and Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Amadou also visited the photocopy unit at the university to gain first-hand knowledge of their operations which will be of immense benefit to USET especially as they transition into a fully-fledged university.
The next academic exchange programme will be hosted by the University of Science Engineering and Technology (USET), Gambia during the first quarter of 2022.
