The Brother Tarcisius Prosthetics and Orthotics Training College (BTPOTC) in Nsawam continues to make strides in specialized healthcare education, thanks to a fruitful affiliation with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Established over eight years ago through the KNUST Affiliations Office, this partnership has become a cornerstone in training highly skilled prosthetics and orthotics professionals.
KNUST played a key role in developing the curriculum for the Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology, ensuring it meets rigorous academic and professional standards. The program is overseen by a moderator from KNUST’s Biomedical Engineering department—currently Dr. Isaac Acquah—who helps maintain the quality and relevance of training delivered at BTPOTC.
As part of the affiliation, KNUST also administers final examinations to students who have successfully completed their coursework and practical requirements. Upon successful completion, students are awarded a Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology, certified by KNUST.
This year, 12 proud graduates joined the ranks of trained professionals, notably Mr. Jefferson Adu Gyamfi, the valedictorian, ready to make meaningful contributions to healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond. Their achievement is a testament to the strength of this academic collaboration and the bright future of rehabilitative care in the region.
