KNUST Petroleum Engineering Students Shine at 2024 SLB PetroChallenge

Three final-year students of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Richard Gyamfi Andoh, Daniel Obeng Baffour Awuah, and Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Appiah, put up an outstanding performance, emerging as first runners-up in the 2024 SLB PetroChallenge. The competition, held at the University of Ghana from October 28th to 31st, 2024, showcased their exceptional knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Their achievement is a testament to the quality of education and training the department provides, and we are incredibly proud of their exemplary representation of KNUST.

The PetroChallenge offered a unique platform for students to apply the principles and concepts learned in their final-year Integrated Field Development (IFD) course in a practical, competitive setting. This experience highlighted the strength of KNUST’s curriculum in addressing real-world oil and gas field development scenarios. The department extends its gratitude to SLB for organising this prestigious event and for the opportunity to collaborate on initiatives that bridge academic learning with industry practice. Special recognition goes to Dr. Stephen Adjei for leading the team and to our Visiting Lecturer, Derrick E. K. Klutsey, for representing the department during the competition.
