On 27th March 2025, final-year Telecommunication Engineering students visited Zipline in Asante-Mampong, a leader in autonomous medical drone delivery. The tour covered two key areas: the Fulfillment Area, where medical products like vaccines and blood bags undergo strict checks, tagging, and temperature-controlled packing, and the Flight Operations Area, where drones are programmed, launched, and retrieved. The students observed how drones use RTK GPS for precise landings and how packages are safely delivered via parachutes.
The trip highlighted Zipline’s innovative use of technology to improve healthcare access. The students left inspired by the seamless integration of engineering and logistics, envisioning broader applications for such systems in underserved communities. The experience underscored the potential of autonomous drones to address real-world challenges efficiently.
