The Women's Commissioner of the Student’s Association of the Faculty of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering (FMCE) of the college, on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, successfully hosted an International Women's Day program. The event, themed "Accelerate Action - Thriving Beyond Surviving," aimed to inspire and empower female students to take action towards achieving gender equality and women's empowerment.

Held on the lawn opposite the Great Hall, the event was attended by a diverse group of students, faculty members, and guests. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, with engaging games, photo opportunities, and a delicious barbecue with drinks and snacks.

The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking speech delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Bennetta Koomson, a female lecturer at the college. Her insightful discussion centered on achieving a balanced life on campus, prioritizing tasks, and maximizing opportunities on campus and beyond.

Dr. Koomson's speech resonated with the attendees, who were inspired by her words of wisdom and encouragement. The event also provided a platform for female students to connect with one another, share their experiences, and learn from each other.

According to the FMCE Women's Commissioner, the event was designed to create a supportive community for female students where they can feel empowered, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals. "We wanted to create an opportunity for female students to come together, share their experiences, and learn from each other," she said.

The success of the event has set the stage for future initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. The FMCE Women's Commissioner plans to incorporate more interactive sessions, workshops, or panel discussions that cater to the diverse interests and needs of female students in other activities planned for the academic year.

Overall, the International Women's Day program was a resounding success, providing a platform for female students to learn, grow, and connect with one another.
