Students Internship Experiences

Student internships at the College of Engineering, KNUST, are crucial in providing students with practical, hands-on experience that complements their academic learning. These internships help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, equipping students with the skills needed to excel in the professional engineering environment. Akuamoah Godwin, a 2nd-year Mechanical Engineering student, is interning at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in Tema. His internship bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Working in the MAFI and Cranes section of the Mechanical Engineering Department, he gains hands-on experience in the routine maintenance of heavy machinery. This practical exposure directly complements his coursework in mechanics and thermodynamics, providing valuable insights into the real-world applications of mechanical engineering.

Students in the College of Engineering may also embark on internships abroad. Nisy Adjei Acheampong, a 2nd-year Computer Engineering student and the General Secretary of the Ghana Engineering Students Association (GESA), is currently interning at the Faculty of Engineering at JECRC University, India. With a strong passion for technology and innovation, she is actively involved in a machine learning project, exploring advanced algorithms and data analysis techniques. Her work aims to develop cutting-edge solutions with the potential to revolutionise various industries, aligning her internship experience with her academic and career aspirations.
