Meet Bernard Obeng Gyamfi, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Engineering Students’ Association (GESA-KNUST)

Bernard Obeng Gyamfi, a third-year Industrial Engineering Student, is passionate about innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship and the power of engineering to solve real-world problems. He is a proud alumnus of Opoku Ware School, BX year group (2021). He currently serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Engineering Students’ Association (GESA-KNUST).

From a young age, his curiosity about how systems work and technology’s potential to improve lives led him to pursue a career in engineering. He sees engineering as the foundation of sustainable development and is committed to applying it to solve real-world challenges.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, Bernard served as the Deputy TRATECH Commissioner for the KNUST SRC and the Public Relations Officer for MESA - KNUST, where his dedication to leadership and service was widely recognized. He played a key role in organizing programs that promoted innovation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement within the student body.

Despite the demands of his academic and leadership roles, Bernard runs a startup on campus called B&B Enterprise, a business that negotiates with wholesale companies to provide appliances and gadgets to students at discounted prices. Through this venture, students benefit from having these items delivered directly to their rooms, saving time and avoiding high retail prices. This initiative has significantly reduced the burden on students when acquiring essential items on campus. He also works with eDok, a local health-tech company that provides telemedicine services. Through the eDok app, users can consult medical doctors at any time, from anywhere. This digital platform aims to make health care more accessible and convenient, aligning with his passion for innovative solutions that improve lives.

Bernard is also passionate about volunteering and actively seeks opportunities to impact lives at KNUST. His dynamic approach balances technical expertise with broader personal development. In his spare time, he enjoys making rap music as a hobby, reflecting his creativity and versatility.

With his strong foundation in Industrial Engineering and diverse leadership experiences, Bernard is well on his way to becoming a prominent figure in Ghana’s engineering landscape, dedicated to creating lasting change and inspiring others.
