The College of Engineering Alumni Excellence Awards ceremony, held as part of the Alumni Excellence Awards and Fundraising Dinner, honoured individuals who contributed exceptionally to various fields.

The Distinguished Alumni Excellence Award for Career Achievement was presented to Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area and Chairman of the Council of State, for his exceptional achievements in his career.

Ing. Dr. Kofi Asare-Yeboah received the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award for his exemplary civil and structural engineering career. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Associated Consultants Ltd.

The Distinguished Alumni Award for Academic Excellence was given to notable academics: Prof. Fred Ohene Akuffo, Prof. Ebenezer Asafua Jackson, Prof. Francis Yao Momade, Prof. Samuel Innocent K. Ampadu and Prof. Mark Adom Asamoah, celebrating their dedication to advancing engineering education and research and their leadership roles to the School of Engineering and when it later became the College of Engineering.

Ing. Kwasi Nyamekye, Chief Executive Officer of Vester Oil Mills, was recognised with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for demonstrating leadership and creativity in his field.

The Distinguished Alumni CEO Award honoured prominent CEOs leading major corporations in Ghana and beginning with Ing Ebenezer Essienyi (GRIDCO), Ing. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa (VRA), Dr. Joseph Anokye (National Communications Authority), Ing. Kwabena Bempong (ACON), Mr. David Boadi Asamoah (ECG), Dr. Ben Asante (Ghana Gas), Ing. Joseph Abuabu Dadzie (GNPC), Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai (Telecel Ghana), Dr. Clifford Braimah (Ghana Water Ltd), Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey (Chamber of Communication), Dr. Riverson Oppong (AOMC) and ending with CEOs (IDC Energy) for their leadership in transforming key sectors of the economy.

The Outstanding Corporate Organization Award went to the Volta River Authority for its substantial corporate contributions.

The Alumni Service Excellence Award was presented to alumni who offered services to their graduating departments. They include Dr. Micheal K. Opoku and Mr. Nii Drolor Okweesi Acquah Gideon (Materials Engineering Department), Ing. Joseph B. Asafo-Boakye and Ing. Kwaku Boampong (Department of Civil Engineering), Mr. Eugene Aikins and Mr. Adu-Poku Turkson (Department of Mechanical Engineering), Ing. Dr. Shadrack Kwadwo Amponsah and Joseph Kwesi Boamah (Department of Agric. & Biosystems Engineering), Dr. William Ampomah (Department of Petroleum Engineering) and Dr. Ben K. D. Asante (Department of Chemical Engineering)

International recognition of alumni was given to the following Alumni in diaspora:

Dr. Alexander Raymond Anim-Mensah was honored with the Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Diaspora) for his pioneering work. Amongst his works, he is known for his contributions to the field of membrane science. He was also honoured with the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joe Biden. He is also a recipient of the Illinois Tool Works’ Distinguished Patent Fellow Award. Ing. Robert Kumapley and Dr. Joseph Akyeampong received the 501c Charity Contribution Award for their philanthropic efforts supporting CoE charity.

The Alumni Service Excellence Awards celebrated individuals providing invaluable service to their departments, while donors who contributed GH₵50,000 and over were acknowledged for their commitment to the College's Endowment Fund, including organisations like the Volta River Authority, Ghana Grid Company Limited, and ADK Consultancy. The individual donors within this category are Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (Minister for Education), Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman, Prof. Elijah Kannatey-Asibu, Nana Joe Mensah and Ing. Christian Nti.

There have also been class donations from some year groups. They are the class of 1996 (Civil Engineering class), 2002 (Electrical Engineering), as well as the classes of 1994 and 1993 (Civil Engineering). Other classes are encouraged to join this initiative and contribute to the vision.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of these winners, the College acknowledges the valuable contributions of all nominees across each category. Each nominee has shown outstanding dedication, whether through pioneering research, impactful community projects, or leadership within their fields. While only a select few received awards, every nominee embodies the values of KNUST and the College of Engineering, contributing to the institution’s reputation and inspiring future generations.
